John Patrick Shanley’s Play ‘Doubt’ Opens Limited Run Feb. 7 in Lafayette

John Patrick Shanley’s Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning “Doubt, a Parable” is coming to the Bay Area. Set in 1964 during the Catholic Church’s reforms for greater relevance in an increasingly secular world, this tautly written and deeply engaging drama brings to life a Catholic school principal and the priest whom she suspects of a sexual relationship with a young student. Playwright John Patrick Shanley keeps us spellbound as the two confront each other, the gulf between women and men in the church, and the human inability to know the seemingly unknowable, no matter how high the stakes.
