Keola Beamer & Henry Kapono With Moanalani Beamer
Hawaiian music legends Keola Beamer and Henry Kapono perform together with Moanalani Beamer, bringing slack-key guitar, contemporary island songwriting and hula to Montalvo. Both artists emerged at the creative forefront of Hawaiian music in the 1970s and have continued to shape its sound for more than four decades.
Beamer helped spark renewed interest in kī hō‘alu, or Hawaiian slack-key guitar, while Kapono rose to prominence through Cecilio & Kapono before building an award-winning solo career. With Moanalani Beamer’s hula, the program connects beloved contemporary Hawaiian songs to the cultural movement that restored language, music, dance and art to a central place in island life.
