Viol master and conductor Jordi Savall leads Le Concert des Nations in Beethoven’s Third and Fifth Symphonies, bringing his historically informed imagination to two icons of the early 19th-century repertory. The concert continues Savall’s long-held project to perform and record all nine Beethoven symphonies on period instruments.

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, Eroica, and Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67 form the complete program. Savall’s period-instrument approach seeks to restore the works’ electricity, physical energy, and humanity while revealing fresh connections inside music audiences may think they already know.
