S.E. Manly African American Film Festival On Tour Benefitting Tech Exchange

Oakland-based Tech Exchange (formerly OTXWest),is proud to announce a unique film festival fundraiser, partnering with the Black Hollywood Education and Resource (BHERC) based in Los Angeles, CA. BHERC will bring some of their outstanding and award-winning film shorts, by several Bay Area filmmakers, to Oakland. This ‘fun’ film fest fundraiser will help Tech Exchange continue our work to close the Digital Divide in the Bay Area, helping community members that need it most.

The Opening Celebration will be held on July 12th, from 6pm – 9pm at Oakstop, 2323 Broadway in Oakland. The event will inclaude will be an opportunity meet filmmakers, and also host a discussion on streaming’s impact on Black and diverse filmmakers.

The Film Festival, featuring 17 films, will screen on July 13th, from 10am – 8pm, at the Regal Theatre located in Jack London Square, 100 Washington Street in Oakland. The films will cover such areas as animation, comedy, drama and a dedicated Youth block of films.

About BHERC – Founded by Sandra Evers-Manly, from Pittsburg, CA, BHERC is a nonprofit, public benefit organization designed to advocate, educate, research, develop, and preserve the history and future of Black images in film and television.
