Salar Nader Presents The Afghan Music Project

Afghan tabla virtuoso Salar Nader presents a program devoted to the depth and resilience of Afghan music. With rubab player Quraishi, he pairs the 21-string national instrument of Afghanistan with tabla in classical compositions and folk melodies, illuminating the close musical ties between Afghan and Hindustani traditions.
The performance moves through intricate ragas, rhythmic exchange and melodies carried across generations. At a time when music and musicians in Afghanistan face profound threats, the project is also an act of cultural preservation: a chance to hear traditions sustained through mastery, memory and collaboration. Nader’s dynamic tabla and the rubab’s resonant voice make the history feel immediate and alive.
