The Glass Menagerie
March 10 - March 26

Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie will be the Spring performance of African-American Shakespeare Company (AASC), directed by Monica Ndounou.
The award-winning African-American Shakespeare Company (AASC) was established in 1994 by Sherri Young whose goal was to bring diversity and inclusivity to theatre for communities of color. They do this by performing classical works and hiring 90% of the major roles to Black artists and other communities of color as a way to engage BiPOC communities. Shakespeare and other classic productions are infused with cultural icons/characters, music, setting, and place of time that are familiar and iconic to communities of color. This brings a sense of familiarity and inclusiveness to these time-honored works; while creating new artistic vision and opportunities for artists of color to become unbound and stretch beyond traditional roles.
