After nearly four decades of playing together, Olov Johansson and Mikael Marin have developed the near-telepathic interplay at the heart of Väsen. Nyckelharpa and viola move through the traditional music of Uppland with precision, humor and an intensity that can make two musicians sound like a much larger ensemble.

Their program travels among old tunes, stories and the rich Bohlin–Tallroth tradition that first connected their musical paths, while continuing to break new ground through original ideas and unusual string colors. Ancient dance rhythms meet a distinctly modern sense of phrasing and momentum, proving that tradition can remain stable at its roots while changing shape in every performance.
