Yellow Face
May 10 - June 8

Shotgun Players proudly presents David Henry Hwang’s award-winning satirical play Yellow Face, running May 10 to June 8, 2025, at the Ashby Stage. Directed by Daniel J. Eslick and inspired by real-life events, this hilarious, poignant and personal exploration of race, identity, and representation, follows Hwang’s semi-autobiographical protagonist, DHH, as he inadvertently casts a white actor in the role of an Asian character while attempting to combat racial misrepresentation in the media. What unfolds thereafter is a sharp-witted, self-aware comedy that flirts with hypocrisy, challenges assumptions, and invites audiences to confront the complexities of identity politics in America.
