    Zar Electrik

Zar Electrik pays homage to tribal cultures, particularly through the incorporation of the ancient Zar ritual originating from Ethiopia and Egypt. This ritual serves as a conduit for healing, achieved through trance and connection with the spirit world. Zar Electrik transports us into its unique universe, where the reigning forces are trance and dance. Its music resonates within our beings; the electronic layers resembling mantras; and the voices akin to invocations. The overall experience mirrors a tribal rite, guiding us towards an altered state of consciousness. The music of Zar Electrik is best encountered on the dance floor, facilitating a transformative and cathartic ritual trance.

    Keyon Harrold

    0

Keyon Harrold first came into the International spotlight for his work as the trumpet voice behind the Grammy-winning Don Cheadle film “Miles Ahead,” and his critically acclaimed album, The Mugician, (Sony Legacy/Mass Appeal). As a bandleader, he has created a compelling new statement with a riveting mix of jazz, Afrobeat, soul, spoken word, hip-hop, blues, rock, and even American folk. As a soloist, his distinctly warm trumpet sound simmers in the middle register; creating drama without aggrandizing, and mesmerizing live audiences with an emotionally charged concert presentation. Wynton Marsalis has stated “Keyon Harrold is the future of the trumpet.”

Pino Palladino & Blake Mills Featuring Sam Gendel & Chris Dave

    0

Bassist Pino Palladino (D’Angelo, Nine Inch Nails, Erykah Badu, John Mayer) and guitarist and producer Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes, Bob Dylan, Fiona Apple, Perfume Genius) reunite with That Wasn’t a Dream, their second collaborative instrumental album that builds on the deep chemistry they first explored on 2021’s Notes With Attachments, expanding it into a meditative, boundary-pushing sonic world. The record blurs lines between composition and improvisation, melody and abstraction. With contrapuntal interplay by sometimes unidentifiable instruments, it’s a project defined by ambiguity, restraint, and the radical beauty of listening closely. Palladino and Mills recorded That Wasn’t a Dream over two months at Los Angeles’ Sound City Studios. The new album has contributions from drummer Chris Dave and saxophonist Sam Gendel.

February 19, 1923—the internationally renowned play God of Vengeance by Polish dramatist Sholem Asch opens on Broadway. Weeks later, the entire cast is arrested for obscenity. Is this play a seminal work of Jewish culture, or an act of traitorous libel? Bursting forth with an original Klezmer score, Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel’s “riveting” (Variety) true tale shines a glaring light on the intersection of art and censorship when America was pitched at a cultural crossroads. “Masterful” (Entertainment Weekly) and “spellbinding” (Deadline), Indecent is a thunderously relevant modern theatrical classic that stands as a testament to the power of theatre and the resilient immigrant artists who create it.
