San Francisco Ballet presents The Sleeping Beauty, a sweeping fairy tale that combines regal pageantry, demanding classical technique and enduring romance. Helgi Tomasson’s choreography, created after Marius Petipa, honors the grandeur of the 19th-century ballet while giving the familiar story fresh theatrical energy.

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s radiant score supports a world of enchanted sleep, courtly celebration and bravura dancing. Jens-Jacob Worsaae’s scenery and costumes and Craig Miller’s lighting frame the production’s fairy-tale splendor, making this full-length classic an elegant introduction to ballet as well as a showcase for the company’s dancers.
