Jonathan Karrant: The Johnny Mercer Songbook
Singer Jonathan Karrant salutes the music of legendary lyricist Johnny Mercer. Mercer’s compositions made a significant impact on the Great American Songbook, including songs like “Autumn Leaves,” “Moon River,” “Skylark,” “Summer Wind” and so many more. Mercer was a top writer for Capitol Records in the 1950s and ’60s and collaborated with several iconic composers such as Henry Mancini, Johnny Mandel and Harold Arlen, just to name a few.
His songwriting was considered to be very prolific and provocative, creating word images through his lyrics, triggering thoughts and emotions.
With a repertoire that spans classic jazz standards and contemporary interpretations, Karrant brings a modern elegance to the timeless genre of jazz. Karrant, who has recorded several of Mercer’s songs, will perform many of Mercer’s most popular hits on September 12, 2026. Karrant will also give you a peek at some of the songs from his most recent album.
