Ellen Hoffman’s Piano Open Mic & SingAlong
Pianist and composer Ellen Hoffman hosts a monthly open mic and singalong at The Marsh Berkeley Cabaret, inviting singers, instrumentalists and other performers to join her at the piano. The musical menu can range from Beatles, blues, boogie-woogie and bossa nova to Broadway, gospel, jazz, Sondheim, Stevie Wonder, opera arias, original songs and protest music.
Participants may bring songs, instrumental pieces, tap or dance acts, while audience members can simply come to listen and sing along. Hoffman’s Bay Area work has included Anna’s Jazz Island, Berkeley Broadway Singers, the Freight, Jazz Camp West, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, Oakland Jazz Choir and Oakland Symphony.
