David Sánchez’s Carib presents Tambó

Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning saxophonist David Sánchez brings his Carib ensemble to SFJAZZ for the West Coast premiere of Tambó.
The project connects modern jazz with West African drum traditions and music from Haiti, Carriacou, Puerto Rico and Colombia. Inspired by Sánchez’s travels and the chants and rhythms of the bomba tradition, Tambó is dedicated to Eddie Palmieri and to ancestors whose spiritual strength continues through the music.
