Bill Frisell expands the musical world of his acclaimed HARMONY project with Harmony Five, featuring Petra Haden, Hank Roberts, Luke Bergman and Tim Angulo. The ensemble blends jazz, traditional Americana and chamber-music color, using voice, guitar, cello, bass and drums to open familiar songs into spacious new arrangements.
Frisell has spent decades finding unexpected connections among American musical languages, and this group gives that curiosity a richly textured setting. Folk melodies, standards and original material can become intimate, mysterious or quietly radiant as the musicians trade roles and reshape the sound from moment to moment. The program rewards close listening while retaining the warmth and melodic clarity at the center of Frisell’s work.
