Eternal Paris: Photographing the City of Light

Nearly fifty photographs from the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco collection trace how artists pictured and preserved Paris from the nineteenth into the early twentieth century. Streets, monuments, neighborhoods, and daily life reveal a city continually remade through the camera.
The exhibition considers photography’s role in celebrating cultural heritage while recording the transformations of the City of Light.
