Friday Nights at OMCA with BULULĂ
Friday Nights at OMCA celebrates Caribbean and African diasporic music, dance, and community. Venezuelan-born percussionist, composer, and vocalist Lali Mejia leads BULULĂ in a Garden Stage performance blending salsa, cumbia, merengue, calypso, joropo, son, guaracha, bachata, and other traditions from Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and across the Caribbean.
Danaite Gebremeskel leads an interactive Afro dance lesson for all experience levels, introducing foundational movements, musicality, and the cultural traditions that shape modern African dance. Bay Area artist and DJ TIEDYE continues the evening with a mix of old-school R&B, Afrobeats, Amapiano, Afrohouse, hip-hop, and dancehall.
Gallery Chats invite visitors into conversations about the art, artifacts, and stories throughout OMCAâs galleries.
