Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Benjamin Grosvenor Recital
Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and pianist Benjamin Grosvenor join forces for a recital spanning variation, character piece and large-scale sonata. Kanneh-Mason, a BBC Young Musician winner and Decca Classics recording artist, brings his lyrical approach into partnership with fellow Decca artist Grosvenor.
The program includes Beethoven’s variations on a theme from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Bloch’s Prayer, Nadia Boulanger’s Three Pieces for Cello and Piano, Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 2 and Rachmaninoff’s expansive Cello Sonata. Together, the works move from intimacy and songfulness to sweeping Romantic drama.
